Green Bay Wins Kenosha/Green Bay Challenge


Over the weekend, the Southwest Lady Trojans soccer team went 2-0-1 in t he 5th Annual Kenosha vs. Green Bay Challenge. The city of Green Bay held on to the trophy for a 3rd consecutive year, putting Green Bay in the lead in the annual challenge 3-2.

Here is a summary of the three games:

SOUTHWEST 4 - BRADFORD 1

GREEN BAY - Paige Pierce tallied two goals in the Trojans’ nonconference home win.

Southwest (8-2-7) broke a 1-1 halftime score with three unanswered goals in the second half. Montana Thomas and Taylor Johnson each recorded a goal and an assist for the Trojans.

In net, winning goalkeeper Toni Champion made five saves.

SOUTHWEST 1 - INDIAN TRAIL 0

In Game 1, Paige Pierce scored the lone goal with 37 seconds left for the Trojans to beat Kenosha Indian Trail 1-0. Toni Champion got the win and one save in goal for Southwest.

SOUTHWEST - - TREMPER 0

In Game 2, Southwest and Kenosha Tremper held each other scoreless for the tie. Champion recorded six saves in net for Southwest.
